Recalls are free repairs, initiated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or Audi itself, for a widespread safety problem. They might be a pain, but a recalled problem is better than an ignored one.

This campaign is part of an industry-wide effort involving more than a dozen automakers and 1.7 million vehicles.
